Understand anti-fraud measures: device fingerprinting, geo-validation, IP exclusion lists, and post-install engagement filters—to protect your performance budgets from invalid installs and bots.

Hey! Great topic — fraud on VPN performance networks is definitely something to watch out for. Since VPN users can mask their real location and identity, it makes fraud detection a bit trickier, but not impossible.

Here are some tips I’ve picked up from running these kinds of campaigns:

  1. Use a trusted ad network: First and foremost, work with networks that actively monitor and filter out low-quality or bot traffic. I’ve used 7Search PPC for VPN campaigns and have had a pretty solid experience — they have fraud prevention tools in place and you can even monitor traffic sources closely. Not bulletproof (no network is), but way better than some of the sketchier ones out there.

  2. Implement conversion tracking: Make sure your conversion pixel or server-side tracking is set up. That way, if you’re seeing a bunch of clicks but no sign-ups or sales, you can quickly spot something off.

  3. Look for red flags: Things like super high click-through rates with low engagement, lots of clicks from the same IP ranges, or conversions that happen unrealistically fast — these can all signal bot traffic or click fraud.

  4. Use frequency caps and filters: Some fraudsters just hammer your ads repeatedly. Setting frequency caps helps limit exposure to the same IP/device. Also, filter out suspicious geos or anonymous sources if you see patterns.

  5. Leverage anti-fraud tools: There are third-party tools like ClickCease, TrafficGuard, or even simple IP blacklists you can integrate with your ad campaigns to reduce fraud risk.

  6. Start small and scale slowly: Don’t dump a huge budget into an unknown traffic source. Start with a small test budget, track performance, and only scale once you’re confident it’s clean traffic.

Unfortunately, no campaign is ever 100% immune to fraud, but taking a proactive approach really helps. VPN traffic is valuable — but you definitely have to stay on top of it.

Hope that helps! Curious if you've had any fraud issues yourself or if you're just being cautious (which is smart, btw).
